Don’t Blame the Messenger

Spy. Snoop. Stalker. Aren’t those the first words that come to mind when cell phone spy software is brought up. We jump right to thinking the worst even when we shouldn’t. These products weren’t invented for the NSA or to  trample your constitutional rights. And they weren’t created so that rich celebs could spy on their wives. The original intent certainly wasn’t ever so dubious.

These apps were designed  to protect people. And whether that means you are a business owner, or the parent of teenagers, cell phone spy software wasn’t created with corruption in mind. It’s easy to overlook best intentions when you are more likely to read salacious headlines about using technology to spy. The truth is cell phone spy software was designed as a safeguard to protect  families and businesses.

Using already available cell phone technology. It accesses applications and simply uses them in a different way than originally intended. Features such as your car or your cell phone GPS for example can help track location of a stolen car, or a misplaced phone. Worst case scenario, you are hurt and in need of assistance and nobody even knows where you are. An app such as mSpy, which can be remotely triggered, can use GPS to locate you.

So, for every crazed wife using spy software for questionable gains, there is a Melissa Vasquez;  who drove off the road in northern California and found herself trapped for 18 hours in a ravine. Stuck in a spot that her OnStar system could not pinpoint. If not for the quick thinking of her stepmother and cell phone spy software that helped precisely determine her location, the incident might have resulted in tragedy.

Sure suspicious spouses use the app to track their partners  but nothing is without foibles. Technological advances aren’t the exception.

As the parent of a precocious teen, cell phone spy software is a godsend. I monitor my son’s computer use and I limit his time. But I can’t be everywhere and I don’t want to be. That isn’t the kind of parenting I practice. And while I trust my son, I don’t trust the anonymous nature of the world wide web.Interactive games, social media, and questionable websites open our kids up to fraudsters, criminals and pedophiles. How many times have you read about some creepy middle aged man posing as a 13 year old? Highster and mSpy are just another tool in a parents arsenal. An invisible wall to help us keep the villains at bay.
